Mixed Use
By there nature mixed-use projects are varied and complex. Their intent is to solve a number of challenges with one solution, a singular building. As projects they also provide opportunities, to innovate and create cross functional connections. Pathways and balconies can became gardens. Facades can becomes energy generating wall cladding.
Our cities are intricate multi-layered urban environments. How the building of these cities are used changes over time. Values change as well. Navigating these layers of context from both a design and statutory point of view is a skill bourne of understanding and experience.
Our approach to these buildings is centred around a qualitative evaluation of such sites that includes their socio economic, as well as cultural values.
The project at Solstice point in Camden, London was always going to produce a vibrant solution. Acting as a gateway to Camden from Regents Park the site acted a s focal point for many opportunities. The residential accommodation above the main street frontage acts as the bulk of the property, but the curved ground floor facing Regents Park is the location for a selection of retail, community and dining uses.
